Kathmandu, Aug 10: The Nepali Congress dissident faction has sent letters to the presidents of all seven provincial committees, 77 district committees and 165 House of Representatives constituency committees, inviting them to participate in its national gathering scheduled to be held in Kathmandu from August 14 to 16.
Meen Bishwakarma, coordinator of the gathering’s publicity subcommittee, said the invitees have been asked to attend the event themselves and encourage both current and former leaders of party bodies in their respective areas to participate.
The three-day gathering has been called by former party president Sher Bahadur Deuba and the faction led by Dr Shekhar Koirala to discuss the party’s internal strengthening and contemporary political issues.
To ensure broad and well-managed participation, the faction has formally written to the presidents of all seven provincial committees, all 77 district committees and all 165 House of Representatives constituency committees.
Bishwakarma said the gathering aims to seek the views of party leaders from the grassroots to the top level. General convention delegates, former central office bearers and members, former ministers, lawmakers and office bearers of provincial assembly constituency committees will also be invited to participate.
The letters have also asked local party leaders to create an environment for the participation of presidents of metropolitan city, municipality and rural municipality committees.
