
Kathmandu, Aug 8: The Problematic Cooperatives Management Committee has refunded deposits to 148 depositors of three troubled cooperatives.
According to the committee, small depositors of Gorkha, Pashupati and Kantipur cooperatives have received their savings back.
The government clarified that the refunds were made from money recovered through the collection of loans owed to the troubled cooperatives.
The committee said depositors with smaller savings were prioritized in the first phase. Other depositors will gradually receive refunds based on the amount of their savings.
The committee has been continuously refunding deposits to members of the concerned cooperatives using funds recovered through loan collection and asset management, in accordance with existing legal provisions.
