
Kathmandu, July 5: A mother and her young son were killed in an elephant attack at Belhatta in Bharatpur Metropolitan City-23, Chitwan.
According to Chandra Bhushan Yadav, information officer at the District Police Office, Chitwan, 25-year-old Ashika Bote and her four-year-old son, Bharat, were killed after a wild elephant attacked their home while they were asleep on Saturday night.
While attempting to drive the elephant away, Ashika’s husband, Purna Bote, lit a fire, which accidentally spread and set their mud house ablaze. The fire was later brought under control with the help of police and local residents.
