Parliament session to end today; President to address

Kathmandu, April 10: The ongoing session of both houses of the Federal Parliament is set to conclude today, with the session formally ending from midnight.

Acting on the Cabinet recommendation made on April 7, 2026, President Ramchandra Paudel has already decided to prorogue both houses of Parliament.

Before the session ends, President Paudel will address the final meeting of the current parliamentary session.

By constitutional provision, the President addresses the first sitting of Parliament following general elections. After the elections held on March 5, 2026, the first meeting of the newly elected Federal Parliament was convened on April 2, 2026.

With the conclusion of the current session today—April 10, 2026 (Chaitra 27, 2082 BS)—preparations will now move toward the upcoming budget session.

The prorogation marks a procedural shift in the parliamentary calendar, clearing the way for budget-related deliberations in the next sitting cycle.
