Balen Shah appointed Prime Minister

Kathmandu, March 27: Senior leader of the Rastriya Swatantra Party, Balendra Shah, has been appointed Prime Minister. President Ram Chandra Paudel made the appointment earlier this morning, according to the President’s Office press advisor Kiran Pokharel.

Shah is set to take the oath of office and secrecy later today at an auspicious time. The ceremony will be held at Sheetal Niwas at 12:34 PM. The new government is being formed under Article 76(1) of the Constitution of Nepal, allowing for a single-party administration.

Invitations have already been sent to leaders of political parties, members of the diplomatic community, civil society representatives, and senior government officials to attend the swearing in ceremony. Ministers are also expected to take their oath alongside the Prime Minister.
