Kathmandu, March 24: On the occasion of the 86th National Day of Pakistan, a flag hoisting ceremony was held at the Embassy of Pakistan, Kathmandu on March 23. Ambassador Abrar H Hashmi raised Pakistan’s flag on chancery building. Messages from Pakistan’s President, Prime Minister and Deputy Prime Minister/ Foreign Minister were read out on the occasion.
In his message, Asif Ali Zardari, President of Pakistan, said Pakistan Day reminds us that unity and solidarity are the most important elements in transforming national resolve into reality. We confronted the enemy’s aggression with courage and taught such a lesson that it will remember for a long time. On the occasion of Pakistan Day, we must resolve to ensure the rule of law, strengthen democratic institutions, reduce inequality, empower women, promote political and economic stability and eliminate the scourge of terrorism and extremism.
Prime Minister of Pakistan Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, in his message said, 23rd of March is a significant milestone in the history of South Asia. Pakistan is a proponent of global peace; however, sustainable peace in South Asia is linked to the just resolution of the Jammu and Kashmir issue. Pakistan also expresses full solidarity with the people of Palestine and remains deeply concerned about the recent tensions in the Middle East. As a responsible member of the international community, Pakistan continues to pursue balanced and active diplomacy focused on regional stability, dialogue, and mutual respect.
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar in his message said, we pay tribute to the unwavering struggle, foresight, and resolve of our forefathers, whose tireless efforts led to the emergence of Pakistan as an independent state. The ongoing tensions in the region have also had economic and political repercussions on us, and the Government has taken austerity measures. We cannot forget our Kashmiri brothers and sisters, who have rendered extraordinary sacrifices in pursuit of their inalienable right to self-determination. Pakistan remains steadfast in its commitment to continue providing political, moral and diplomatic support to the oppressed people of illegally occupied Jammu & Kashmir.
Ambassador Hashmi, in his remarks, congratulated the community and families on the occasion. He commended their contributions and expressed hope they will continue to strengthen Pakistan-Nepal relations. Highlighting the historic significance of March 23, 1940 as foundation for the creation of Pakistan, he paid tribute to the leadership of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and the sacrifices of the forefathers. He expressed solidarity with the people of the Middle East over the loss of lives and suffering of innocent, due to the ongoing conflict and announced that the Pakistan National Day Reception, in line with the Prime Minister’s instructions, would not be held this year.
