Kathmandu, March 20: The Meteorological Forecasting Division has warned of heavy rain, snowfall, and strong winds across parts of the country on Friday ( today), and Saturday, March 21. The government says the conditions may disrupt daily life and has asked people to stay alert.
In a notice issued through the Home Ministry’s Hello Government service, authorities urged people to avoid unnecessary travel, remain indoors when possible, and take safety measures. During strong winds, households have been advised to shut doors and windows, switch off fire sources, and avoid using electrical devices.
Drivers have been told to pull over and wait in safe areas during windstorms. People in crowded places have been asked to stay calm and move carefully to safer locations.
Officials have also cautioned against taking shelter near fragile structures, tall trees, utility poles, or power lines. Anyone spotting fallen or hanging wires should not touch them and must inform authorities immediately.
The weather office said the system is driven by active westerly winds. Snowfall is likely in hilly and mountainous regions, while rain and storms may hit the Terai. The conditions could disrupt farming, transport, and everyday activities, prompting authorities to call for heightened caution.
