Kathmandu, March 20: The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has begun preparations to form a new Council of Ministers, with plans to keep the cabinet to around 18 members.
Party General Secretary Kabindra Burlakoti said discussions are underway to limit the size of the cabinet as much as possible. “We are trying to form a smaller cabinet, ideally around 18 members.”
He added that talks are ongoing on whether to merge some ministries or assign multiple portfolios to individual ministers. “The number of ministries and the list of ministers have not been finalized yet, but we are working toward keeping it at 18 or fewer,” he said.
According to Burlakoti, senior party leader Balen Shah is scheduled to take the oath of office as prime minister on March 26. Preparations are being made for ministers to take their oath alongside him.
He also said the party is planning to convene a parliamentary party meeting after the prime minister’s swearing-in.
