The government has decided to appoint Manoj Silwal as the executive director of Nepal Electricity Authority by replacing Hitman Shakya. Home Minister Omprakash Aryal informed that Silwal has been appointed to the Electricity Authority.
On the proposal of Minister for energy, Water Resources and Irrigation, Kulman Ghising, the cabinet meeting on September 21 decided to appoint Silwal as the executive director by removing Shakya.
Aryal said that the government has decided to transfer Shakya to the Water and Energy Commission.
Shakya was appointed by the outgoing cabinet led by K.P. Oli a few months ago after removing Kulman Ghising, the executive director of the authority. The then government had removed Ghising from the post after repeatedly asking for clarification.
Five months later, Ghising became Energy Minister and transferred Shakya and appointed Silwal to the post. Silwal was a close associate of Ghising while he was in power.
