No employee to lose job at Bhatbhateni, all to get Dasain allowance

Kathmandu, September 19: Bhatbhateni Superstore, which suffered heavy losses due to vandalism and arson during the agitation on September 8, has announced that its employees will not lose their jobs and will also receive their Dasain allowance.

With the attacks on September 9, out of 28 branches of the Superstore across the country, 12 branches were vandalized and are in a state of no immediate operation. Of these, five branches in Naxal, Maharajganj, Boudh-Chuchepatty, Koteshwar and Baluwatar in the Valley and seven branches in Pokhara, Chitwan, Hetauda, Birtamod, Damak, Biratnagar and Dharan outside the valley will be opened only after reconstruction.
Despite the demoralization of the private sector due to the movement, Bhatbhateni Chairman Meen Bahadur Gurung has expressed his determination to bring all the stores back into operation. He said the stores within the valley would be operational within four months and those outside the valley within 10 months.

Gurung said, “We rise from the ashes and leave all our stores standing.” “We do not allow anyone associated with us to lose their livelihood. They don’t lose their jobs until the stores are operational. We also make arrangements to celebrate the Dasain festival by taking loans.”

There are about 10,000 employees working in Bhatbhatani. The company has said that it will ensure their employment by combining work in other stores operating.
