Kathmandu, September 15: Despite the adverse situation created in the country by the Gen-Z movement, the government is going to run fair price shops for festival purposes. Khaddya Bawastha Byapar Company and Salt Trading Corporation are going to jointly operate fair price shops of daily consumables from today (Monday). Last week, the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supplies had decided to open 10 new Dasain, Tihar and Chhath fair price shops this year.
According to the Food Management and Trading Company, discounts have been arranged on salt, rice, oil and goats in the fair price shops. There will be a discount of Rs 5 per kg on all types of rice, wheat, pulses and beans, and Rs 7 per kg on edible oil and flour. In addition, goats are being sold at a discount of Rs 10 per kg.
Similarly, the Salt Trading Corporation is going to give a discount of two rupees per kg on salt, five rupees on sugar and seven rupees per kg on oil, sugar, flour, and pulses from its sales outlets. The Food Company is operating fair price shops in 111 locations in 45 districts, while Salt Trading is offering services from a minimum of 40 outlets across the country. The Food Company has also opened online bookings for goats.
