Sumana Shrestha quits RSP

Kathmandu, Sept 12: Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) leader Sumana Shrestha has quit the party. The former education minister informed about her resignation through a message on the party’s group messenger, her secretariat said.

She wrote, “Never accepting mistakes, repeating mistakes and making everyone in the party carry that burden, running media trials against those who speak up inside the party. I have been critical ever since RSP started putting the party above the country and the leader above the party. But nothing changed, instead media trials began. This is unacceptable.”

She added, “If you want to openly attack me now, I have made it easier for you. Do as you wish as long as you can. I quit. I have left the party.”

In her message, she also wrote, “Leaders of the third generation in parties like Congress and UML should think about this too. The current situation exists more because of the conduct of your leadership than you. Why keep carrying that burden? The right time has come. Stop worshipping your leaders. Either remove them, or remove yourselves.”
