Kathmandu, August 25: The Central Federation of Public Transport has taken serious note of the government’s notification to make embossed number plates mandatory. Stating that the embossed number plate has been made mandatory so that the Devanagari script itself disappears, the Federation said that the number plate is against the interests of the nation and is impractical.
The decision, made unilaterally by the government, is the Federation’s position that the details of Nepal’s privacy will be under the control of foreigners, and the nation itself will be weakened. The Federation issued a statement today clarifying that the decision to impose financial costs on the infrastructure-dependent public will not be valid.
“Without any infrastructure in the country, there will be more economic costs without a solid basis on the business sector for ordinary citizens in the country’s technology, such decisions made unilaterally from the government side in collaboration with the foreign contractor company will lead to more risks for the security of Nepalis, the whole details will be under the control of foreigners, the nation itself will be weakened, and the embossed number plate made mandatory to be installed in the transportation business sector is against the immediate effective business interests for every reason and is not practical,” the statement said.
