Kathmandu, August 22: In line with the plan of the Nepal Airlines Corporation to expand the maintenance service of its aircraft, the repair house under the Engineering Maintenance Department of the Corporation has been brought into operation recently, with the permission of the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN). On Thursday, Executive Chairman of the Corporation, Ubraj Adhikari, inaugurated the service, noting that this work is one of the sources of income of the Corporation.
With the addition of maintenance service, the Corporation believes that other airline companies will also benefit by receiving maintenance service from the Corporation, as well as, saving costs. With the addition of this new area of operation, the current management of the Corporation’s Maintenance Department has become self-sufficient in all activities related to the three types of NDT to be carried out on the aircraft in the fleet of the Corporation and the aircraft operated by other airlines.
In addition, the Corporation has set up and operates its own research facility under the Maintenance Department for the maintenance of the vessels’ hulls and tailings. In the coming days, the Corporation plans to set up an oxygen plant and generate income under the plan to increase the number of maintenance rooms of the Corporation. At the same time, plans have been put forward to increase the number of radio shops, re-operate radio shops, and expand the scope of electrical shops. As the responsibility of aircraft maintenance lies with the engineering department of the Corporation, it is committed to taking the air safety of the passengers seriously, guaranteeing the air safety of the passengers, as well as continuing the expansion of its areas of operation under the international standard and CAN Nepal’s directives.
