Prof. Dr. Ajaya Jang Kunwar, a distinguished Clinical Embryologist, Human Anatomist and leading Neuroscientist is making remarkable strides in the field of reproductive medicine as the chairman of Slavica IVF & Research Center in Sinamangal, Kathmandu. He is currently serving as a Professor of Anatomy at Janaki Medical College in Janakpurdham, Nepal. With over 20 years of experience in teaching and research, Dr. Kunwar has significantly contributed to the field of Clinical Embryology bringing hope to many aspiring parents.
Academic and Professional Journey
Dr. Kunwar’s academic journey began with a Master’s degree in Human Anatomy from B.P. Koirala Institute of Health Sciences in Nepal. He later pursued his Ph.D. in Neuroanatomy from Georg August University in Göttingen, Germany, and completed a post-doctoral fellowship in Neuroscience at Ohio State University, USA. His research has been widely recognized and published in esteemed journals such as “Neuron”, the “Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences (PNAS)” and “Oxidative Medicine and Cellular Longevity” and in various other high-impact factor journals. He has received several international grants, including the IBRO Return Home Fellowship and funding from The World Academy of Sciences (TWAS), as well as multiple travel grants to present his scientific papers at international conferences in countries such as the USA, Canada, Japan, Australia, Germany, and Taiwan.
He also serves as the Head of the Kathmandu Center for Genomics and Research Laboratory (KCGRL) and is actively involved in various research activities. In his professional career, Dr. Kunwar has held teaching positions at several prestigious institutions, including:
- Jankaki Medical College, Janakpur, Nepal
- Medical University of the Americas, St. Kitts and Nevis, West Indies
- Nepalese Army Institute of Health Sciences – College of Medicine, Kathmandu, Nepal
- Nobel Medical College, Biratnagar, Nepal
- Kathmandu Medical College, Kathmandu, Nepal
He also serves as the President of the “Neuroscience Society of Nepal” and is an active member of international organizations such as the International Brain Research Organization (IBRO) and the Society for Neuroscience (SFN) in the United States and the European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology (ESHRE).
