Kathmandu, August 9: It has been revealed that Russia had given information about a coup d’état before the elections held in Bangladesh in January this year. According to the news published by Dhaka Tribune, a well-known newspaper in Bangladesh, Russia provided the information about the coup in the American plan.
At that time, Russia had predicted that the alliance of Western countries led by the United States would stage a violent coup in Bangladesh. The Russian spokesperson also accused the US of being involved in the violence before the general election in Bangladesh.
The Dhaka Tribune wrote that no one took seriously the prediction made by Russia 8 months ago that there would be a coup in Bangladesh.
The claim made by Russia at that time has now been proven true. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has resigned from the student movement and fled the country.
Eight months ago, the spokesperson of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, accused the US of planning to destabilize Bangladesh.
“America is trying to destabilize the situation of Bangladesh in the style of the Arab revolution. We have seen a direct connection between the developments in Bangladesh and the Western political mission,” she said at that time.
Zakharova also said that before the general election in Bangladesh in January 2024, there was an attempt to spread violence at the behest of the US. But at that time, Sheikh Hasina was able to form the government with a two-thirds majority.
Maria Zakharova made a statement with serious information ahead of the Bangladesh general election in January
If the result according to the wishes of the citizens of Bangladesh is not satisfactory for the US, then it can try to further destabilize the situation in Bangladesh in the style of ‘Arab Revolution’, she said.
The Arab Revolution was a series of anti-government protests and armed uprisings, which had spread to most of the territories of the Arab world in the early 2010s. This revolution started in Tunisia in response to corruption and economic disorder.
At that time, the Russian spokeswoman pointed out the possibility of violence in the country before the elections in Bangladesh.
“On December 12-13, 2023, right before the elections, the opponents of the Bangladeshi government blocked traffic on the roads in several areas. They clashed with the police. We have seen that these incidents are directly related to the inflammatory activities of the Western political mission in Dhaka. In particular, we discussed American ambassador P. Haas in the briefing on November 22”, she had said, “Now in the coming weeks, we will see increased pressure against the Bangladesh government with sanctions.” “Westerners have already started using it.”
