Kathmandu, July 13: By Sunday evening, July 13, UML chair K.P. Sharma Oli is likely to assume office as the prime minister.
Now, the two big parties are exercising on the formation of the cabinet. Major coalition partners NC and UML are also trying to bring small parties in the cabinet with the plan of making it a two-thirds majority government.
Meanwhile, NC President Sher Bahadur Deuba’s team is working on selecting the ministers for the new cabinet. Deuba has intensified meetings with opposition factions’ leaders within the party, Sekhar Koirala, Gagan Thapaand other influential leaders.
According to the NC sources, Deuba is thinking of sending the NC team led by Prakashman Singh to the cabinet. Singh may get the Physical Infrastructure of the Urban Development portfolio, Ramesh Lekhak may get the Home portfolio and Dr Arxu Rana may get the foreign ministry portfolio, it is said.
Besides, NC’s co-general secretary Jivan Pariyar and Ajaya Chaurasiya are likely to become the ministers from the NC side.
NC will get ten ministerial portfolios according to the agreement between the NC and UML.
Other candidates in the race to become the minister are Deepak Khadka, Hirdiyaram Thani, Arjunnarsingh KC, Kishorshahi Rathor, Binod Chaundary, Udaya Shumsher Rana, Pradeep Poudel, Chandra Bhandari, among others.
