With the announcement by Rajendra Lingden, chairman of the Rashtriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) that the RPP is going to support the new government coalition of the CPN-Unified-Marxists-Leninists (CPN-UML) and the Nepali Congress (NC) is more or less a death blow to the popular movement for the restoration of Constitutional Monarchy and the reinstatement of the Hindu State.
The next logical step for the RPP would be to join the coalition of the two largest parties in parliament – akin to an impossible coalition of Labour and the Conservatives in the UK, the Democrats and Republicans in the United States, the BJP and the Indian National Congress in India, or the Awami League of Sheikh Hasina and the Nationalist Party of Khaleda Zia in Bangladesh.
The RPP joining the CPN-UML and NC would be tantamount to hitting the nail in the coffin of the popular movement to resuscitate constitutional monarchy and the Hindu state. In fact, it would be like stabbing them in the back.
The RPP is ostensibly supporting a so-called government of national consensus. For that matter, one may even call it a government of national unity.
Sadly, it will be none of them. The characterization is completely false. Just because the dons/leaders of the two largest Mafia families/political parties have hustled together, doesn’t make it a government of national consensus/unity.
Like in any murder investigation, look for the motive, man.
In the first instance, the NC and CPN-UML are coming together to suppress the investigations to various scams in the classical land of scamdemics.
Second, just imagine what fortunes can be made, and what posts can be distributed – with no control whatsoever – when two of the most powerful Mafia families join hands together – making hay while the sun shines to your heart’s content.
The NC and CPN-UML are allegedly coming together for the good of the country – for good governance, economic growth, political stability, and all-round development. And Lingden and the RPP have come to believe this wholeheartedly!
If that is really the case, what were they doing when they were steering the ship of state – multiple times?
Have they now suddenly come to their senses? Has the leopard changed its spots? Have they become enlightened?
Have the truly uneducated nincompoops taken a crash course in state craft?
Are Rajendra Lingden and the RPP so naïve to believe all that crap?
Nor will they ever be able to convince the NC– and CPN-UML–wallahs of the indubitable benefits of constitutional monarchy and the Hindu state in nation building [see his interview in: The Annapurna Express, July 3].
In essence, the old political class are imbued with anti-social and anti-patriotic attitudes and are, in fact, NINOs [Nepali in Name Only].
