The Salt Trading Corporation (STC) has adjusted the price of salt after eight years.

A meeting of the board of directors of STC on Tuesday decided to increase the price of salt by Rs. 6 per kg.

The price hike of salt has come as the final gift to the Nepali people by Pushpa Kamal Dahal who has been boasting about working in favour of people.

The prices were increased after the new agreement inked by the Nepali Congress and the CPN-UML was almost sure to throw Dahal out of power.

The consumer price of Ayo Nun which was previously Rs. 20 per kg has now been increased to Rs. 26 per kg.

The STC has adjusted the price of salt obtaining consent from the government as it is a state-owned enterprise, said Rajbhandari.

The last time, the STC adjusted the salt price was in February 2017.

The wholesale price of Ayo Nun has been increased to Rs. 23 per kg.

The price of New Shakti salt has reached Rs. 17 per kg in wholesale and consumer price has reached Rs. 20. Similarly, the price of Bhanu salt has reached Rs. 9 per kg.

It is said that even though the price has increased, the corporation will still face a loss in the sale of salt.

Earlier, the corporation was selling salt at Rs 18.50 per kg even though it cost was Rs. 28 per kg.

Now, the wholesale price of a kg of salt has been fixed at Rs. 23. He said that even after increasing the price, the corporation will incur a loss of Rs. 5 per kg.
