MCC, G7 Summit, Peace Summit

By Nirmal P. Acharya

Recently, the United States led the G7 summit in Italy and issued a joint statement, making a lot of accusations and threats against Russia and China. Then the G7 held a peace conference in Switzerland and said something about Ukraine winning.

To be honest, I have neither the interest nor the patience to read through the long-winded joint statement and the conference speeches. Skimming it, it feels like a lot of nonsense, and platitudes. I only remember asking Russia to give Ukraine $486 billion in war reparations and asking China not to sell certain parts to Russia.

Why should Russia and China listen to your G7? The fact that the G7 made such a statement with a straight face, knowing that Russia and China would not heed these demands, and knowing that there is nothing it can do about them, only underlines its own travesty.

Even more ridiculous was the peace conference in Switzerland. President Putin was not invited, China refused to attend, and Western world leader Joe Biden himself did not attend. The whole meeting came out with nothing more than a bunch of self-talking speeches and a photo of the attendees.

The G7, led by the United States, cannot defeat Russia on the battlefield, cannot defeat China economically, and is determined to defeat Russia and China through meetings, statements and speeches. In other words, the US is planning to destroy Russia and China by talking.

Russia and China, meanwhile, have talked less and done more. Russia has two fleets of nuclear submarines directly deployed to Cuba and Scotland, respectively. China’s strategic layout has extended to Eastern Europe and the Middle East and has broken through the first island chain to the second island chain.

In fact, to defeat China and Russia, the United States should have less verbal artillery and more strategic power projection, such as more MCC projects. If one MCC is not enough, then send two MCCs. If the MCC is not strong enough, then the SPP is the next step. Only in this way can China and Russia be deterred.
