Can House run today?

Kathmandu, May 14: Today is scheduled for the presentation of the policies and programs of the government by President Ramchandra Paudel at the joint session of Parliament.

Whether the House will run or not, depends on the attitude of the Nepali Congress.

Earlier, during the meeting between an NC delegation led by party president Sher Bahadur Deuba met Prime Minister Pushpakamal Dahal and informed about the NC’s bottom line to continue obstruction of Parliament unless the formation of a parliamentary probe committee investigate DPM and Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane’s alleged involvement on the cooperatives fraud.

PM Dahal had assured of taking a middle path by addressing the NC’s concern.

Later, PM Dahal held a meeting with UML chair K.P. Sharma Oli and Home Minister Lamichhane and proposed the formation of a committee to investigate the entire cooperative fraud cases, not particularly indicating Lamichhane’s case, both Oli and Lamichhane denied Dahal’s proposal saying that this is the NC’s design to topple the government.

Meanwhile, the NC’s office bearers’ meeting held on Monday decided to obstruct the House meeting until the constitution of a probe committee.

On the above background, there is the possibility of obstruction of the House today. In such a situation, the President may not go to Parliament.

The NC has called its parliamentary party meeting this morning to decide on its role in the House meeting today.
