Newa and Tamang language recognized in Bagmati Province

Kathmandu, May 6: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal has launched a program of Language of Government Act 2080 in Bagmati province from Monday. Prime Minister Dahal congratulated the Newa and Tamang communities in the entire Bagmati province and mentioned that it is a special day of pride for those who want independence, self-respect and prosperity in the country. Prime Minister Dahal said, “This day has given important motivation and energy to our aspiration and commitment to build a socialist-oriented advanced nation by ending class, caste, regional and gender oppression in the country.” This day is an important historical day for all oppressed castes and countries including Newa, Tamang.

According to the provisions of clause (2) of Article 7 of the Constitution, on the recommendation of the Language Commission, the Bagmati Provincial Government unanimously adopted the Newa and Tamang languages ​​as working languages ​​and published them in the Provincial Gazette on 23rd Kartik.

“On this historic occasion, I sincerely appeal to all the oppressed classes, castes and communities to identify their true representatives and show solidarity in the implementation of the national issue of identity and rights,” said Dahal.
