Kathmandu, April 18: President Ramchandra Paudel, under the recommendation of the government, has nominated Anjan Shakya as a member of the National Assembly.
It is stated in a notice issued by the President’s Office.
Recently, the cabinet meeting had decided to recommend Shakya to the post of NA member.
The government can nominate three people, including a minimum of one woman in the National Assembly.
One post had remained vacant since the six-year tenure of the one nominated member was completed.
Earlier, the previous alliance government had developed a gentleman’s agreement for nominating Durga Paudel, wife of the Rastriya Janamorcha’s supreme leader, Mohan Bikram Singh. In the meantime, the alliance partners in the government were changed, and Paudel was disqualified by the new alliance partners.
