As speculated by the pubic, Narayan Prasad Dahal, younger brother of Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, a common candidate of the ruling alliance, has been elected National Assembly Chairman.
Dahal was picked as the candidate of NA by PM Dahal himself, and it was a perfect example of how the Maoist supremo was promoting nepotism in the party.
Dahal was elected by garnering 39 votes while his rival candidate Yuvaraj Sharma of Nepali Congress got only 17 votes in the election held on Tuesday.
A younger brother to Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, the new NA Chair was nominated to the National Assembly in 2022 by the then President Bidya Devi Bhandari on the recommendation of then Sher Bahadur Deuba government.
