Coalition shift just to grab power, not beneficial for the nation

By Our Reporter

CPN-Maoist Centre chairman and Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal has accused NC of non-cooperation as a single reason for the shift in the ruling coalition. PM Dahal and other Maoist leaders have argued that the NC did not cooperate with the Maoists in the NA election in Koshi and its Mahasamiti meeting, the NC undermined their ‘people’s war’ and decided to not forge an electoral alliance. Contrary to their claims, UML chair KP Oli and other leaders said that the two leaders were holding discussions for the present coalition for five months. Here, one can easily know that the Maoist leaders were telling a lie.

Obviously, Dahal changed the coalition to lengthen his stay in government, and he has already extended his term by a year, after two years, he could again reach the NC in the hope of continuing to the post of the PM for another year.

Oli and Dahal were the biggest enemies from December 20, 2020, to December 24, 2023. They became friends for a short time on December 25, 2022, but their friendship turned into foe in February 2023.

This time they not only became friends, their friendship also dragged Madhav Nepal to their coterie. The intimacy between Oli and Madhav Nepal has been the biggest surprise in Nepal’s politics because Nepal had broken not only the party but pulled down the Oli-led government.

Yes, Oli had a single goal to end the previous NC-Maoist coalition. But he happened to reestablish a friendship with Nepal to form a government in two provinces and consolidate the strength of the federal government. Even it is said that Oli and Dahal agreed to make Nepal Prime Minister for one and a half years. These all-odd political dramas were staged with a single goal of grabbing power by communists.

The people, thus will not benefit from the new coalition at all. Only the leaders of the ruling parties will take advantage of this change.
