PM Dahal expands cabinet

Kathmandu, March 6: Prime Minister Pushpakamal Dahal has expanded his cabinet by including ministers from the UML, Maoist Center, Rastriya Swatantra Party, and Unified Socialist Party.

Ministers and their portfolios are as given below:

From the Maoist Center:

Narayankaji Shrestha: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister;

Barshaman Pun: Finance Minister;

Rekha Sharma: Minister for Communications, Information Technology;

Shakti Basnet, Minister for Water Resources and Irrigation;

Hitbahadur Tamand: Minister for Tourism, Civil Aviation and Culture;

From UML:

Raghubir Mahaseth: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transportation;

Padam Giri: Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs;

Hari Upreti: Defence Minister;

Bhagawati Chaudhari: Women, Minister for Children and Senior Citizen;

Rajendra Rai: Minister for Drinking Water;

Damodar Bhandari: Minister for Industry, Commerce and Supplies;

Jwalakumari Shah: Minister for Agriculture and Livestock Development;

Balaram Adhikari: Land Management, Cooperatives and Poverty Irridication;

From Rastriya Swatatantra Party:

Ravi Lamichhane: Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister;

D.P. Aryal: Labor, Employment and Social Security;

Birajbhakta Shrestha: Youth and Sports;

Sumana Shrestha: Education, Science and Technology;

Moreover, the Unified Socialist Party has also decided to send two ministers to the cabinet led by Dahal. Bhanubhakta Joshi is assigned Minister for Federal Affairs and General Administration, and Dhan Bahadur Budha Minister for Urban Development.

Along with the participation of the Unified Socialist Party, the total size of the cabinet has reached 20.

The alliance partners are trying to bring other small parties into the present coalition government.

The newly appointed ministers are taking the oath of office this evening from President Ramchandra Paudel.
