Maoist Center’s statute assembly concludes; does not change party name

The statute assembly of the ruling Maoist Centre concluded without making any important decision other than electing 11 office bearers and 199 central members through direct elections.

Party chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal succeeded in maintaining his supremacy in the party in the assembly and he decided to change the party name and election symbol only when they felt the need. Many leaders have demanded that the party should change its name and election symbol. But it decided not to change its name immediately.

The statute convention has also decided not to change its election symbol.

During a group discussion, there was a suggestion to change the party name and election symbol.

Party chairman Dahal said that a decision to change the party name and election symbol would be made at a specific time.

He was of the opinion that the party name could be changed in case of unity among many communist parties.

Party spokesperson Agni Sapkota also said that the party name and election symbol could be changed as per the need.

Similarly, the Maoist Center has decided to elect 11 office bearers and 199 Central Committee members through a directly elected system.
