It has been months since Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal has been trying to reshuffle the cabinet formed about a year ago. Fed up with the failure in reshuffling the cabinet due mainly to noncooperation from Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba, PM Dahal a few weeks ago had to tell the ministers to continue their jobs without having any fear of being removed. But on Saturday while addressing a function of Sonam Lhosar in Kathmandu, he could not hide his desire to reshuffle the cabinet by stating that he would induct one minister from the Tamang community into the cabinet.
However, he is not finding it easy to reshuffle the cabinet until Deuba maintains ‘wait and see’.
Earlier, it was said that Deuba denied reshuffling the cabinet citing the party’s Mahasamiti meeting which is beginning in Godavari, Lalitpur, on Thursday.
It looks likely that Deuba will not agree to remove any ministers from NC as he will find it difficult to pick new ministers because of increasing factional enmity in his party.
But Dahal wants to remove some of them for their non-performance. He had already warned of removing the ministers who could not deliver. But he is helpless before Deuba, and it is not likely that the Cabinet will be reshuffled in 2080 BS.
