Medical entrepreneur Durga Prasain has started his fresh agitation from Kathmandu. Earlier on November 23 last year, he had launched his first agitation in Kathmandu, which received wider public support despite the government, as well as the CPN-UML, using forces against his supporters in Balkhu and elsewhere. Even the government had to expand the prohibited areas in Kathmandu to discourage Prasain’s activists. He was not allowed to hold mass meetings in Tinkune and Maitighar then.
However, this time he began his agitation from Bhrikuti Manadap in Kathmandu on Tuesday by organising a mass gathering. His supporters reached the venue carrying national flags and organised a rally.
However, unlike his previous agitation, Prasain managed to win the support of both the Rastriya Prajantra Party—RPP led by Rajendra Lingden and RPP-Nepal headed by Kamal Thapa this time.
The two parties said that when Prasain was agitating and raising their political agendas, they had supported him.
Both the RPPs and Prasain have been raising the issue of restoration of the monarchy and the Hindu Kingdom.
