Kathmandu, February 1: The government has prepared to allow Kathmandu, Pokhara, and Bhairahawa international airports to operate on a public-private partnership (PPP) model.
A committee has been formed to study the construction of the Nijgadh International Airport under the PPP model along with the operation of the three international airports. The proposal for the formation of the committee made by the Ministry of Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation was approved by the Council of Ministers meeting held on Thursday.
A five-member committee has been formed to study the operation of the airport under the PPP model under the coordination of former secretary Shankar Prasad Adhikari, investment expert Ghanshyam Ojha, Budhisagar Lamichhane, head of the aviation division of the Ministry of Tourism, joint secretary of the investment board, and member secretary Dipendra Shrestha, deputy director of the Nepal Civil Aviation Authority.
The party that becomes ready to construct the Nijgarh International Airport is going to be given the responsibility of operating these three international airports.
