Kathmandu, February 1: The Central Investigation Bureau of the Nepal Police has arrested businessman Arun Chaudhary, younger brother of Nepali Congress MP Bindo Chaudhary.
According to reports, Arun Chaudhary’s arrest is related to capturing ten ropanis of land belonging to the Bansbari Leather and Shoe Factory, a government undertaking.
Chaudhary was arrested from his residence in Lajimpat today for further investigation.
However, the land currently belongs to a controversial businessman, known to be US multibillionaire Binod Chaudhary, his brother Arun has been arrested.
Binod Chaudhary is operating Chandbag Residency and Chandbag School on illegally occupied government land.
Binod had occupied the land in 2043 BS.
Binod had captured government land in the name of establishing Champion Footwear.
The fake company had claimed to produce one million pairs of shoes, and the Bansbari Shoe Factory would get 2500 unit shares in the factory.
After occupying the government land, Bindo registered a shoe manufacturing company, but it was shut down after six years without producing a single pair of shoes.
During that time, the company was registered in the name of Arun and his wife, however, presently, the land is owned by Binod, who is designated as the chairman of the CG Group Chandbag School.
According to the Janastha News, 37 years ago, three Chaudhary brothers Binod, Basanta and Arun jointly owned the joint property and business. Later, Basanta separated from the joint family and there were two brothers in the CG group.
After the 2015 earthquake, the two brothers are doing their own business, and the occupied land is now owned by Binod.
Even knowing all these facts, the Pushpakamal Dahal-led government decided to arrest the youngest brother Arun by saving influential NC MP Binod.
