EDITORIAL
The political leaders in power have proved that they are unable to practice the present political system by themselves. The concept of the National Assembly was developed and introduced for the representation of those profound dignitaries in society who have no popular base yet whose services are essential for the nation. Against the idea of those who wrote the present constitution, the political parties in power have converted the National Assembly into a venue for managing those political leaders who have been discarded by the people and defeated in direct elections. Moreover, the National Assembly has become the venue for managing those outdated leaders and senior citizens. A political syndicate has been constituted among the parties in power. They are ruling the government turn by turn by sharing power among themselves. Now, they have decided to share the National Assembly members. The party workers voted for those common candidates by forgetting the party’s principles and ideologies. The result we saw was as expected in the National Assembly elections. Moreover, in the government nominating seat, the alliance parties have already developed an understanding for nominating a lady, the wife of a chairperson of a small party, who was defeated in the election to the post of member of the House of Representatives last year, as if the National Assembly is a garbage dumping site.
The political leaders themselves are violating the constitutional spirit. They have no belief in their parties’ principles and ideology. They believe that they can do everything unless they are blessed by their bosses in Delhi. We claim that our nation is a sovereign and independent country, but our leaders, who have become the slaves of the foreign powers, are leading us towards a colony of the foreign powers. None other than the political leaders and the political parties have proved that the present political system is non-functional in Nepal.
