
Kathmandu, January 29: CPN-UML General Secretary Shankar Pokharel has said that the government should be ready to implement the projects under BRI as soon as possible.
He said this during the interaction programme held in Kathmandu on Sunday. He said that the government is lagging behind in identifying projects as per the agreement made by Nepal regarding BRI.
He said that the government should prioritize the issue of project identification. He said that the high-level visits between Nepal and China have strengthened bilateral relations. He asserted that Nepal, which is at a stage of development, has a lot of potential to benefit from BRI.
He said, “Especially in terms of BRI, we are lagging behind in terms of project identification in terms of the agreement made by Nepal.”
The government of Nepal should also advance this matter with priority. The exchange of high-level visits between Nepal and China has strengthened bilateral relations.
As the Chinese development project has become part of the Belt and Road Initiative, the government of Nepal should be ready to implement the projects under it as soon as possible. Nepal, which is in a stage of development, has a lot of potential to benefit from BRI. It is necessary to move ahead with the selection of projects, and their speedy implementation without delay, said the UML leader.
