Chinese New Year observed in Kathmandu 

Kathmandu, January 25: The Anhui Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism and China Cultural Center in Nepal jointly organized a cultural program, “Beautiful Anhui Into Nepal” in Kathmandu on Wednesday, January 24 on the occasion of the Chinese New Year 2024.

The program was hosted by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and the Chinese Embassy in Kathmandu.

Chinese artists from the Anhui Province arrived here presented cultural shows including dances, acrobatics, traditional songs and dances, operas, and magic, amidst a large gathering of distinguished dignitaries.

The chief guest of the event, Speaker Dev Raj Ghimire, recalled recent high-level exchange visits and excellent bilateral relations between Nepal and China.

Speaker Ghimire said exchanges of visits between the leaders, including Chinese President Xi Jinping’s visit to Nepal in 2019 and then President Bhandari’s visit to China, took relations to a new height.

Ghimire also extended congratulations and best wishes to the Chinese nationals on the occasion of the New Year 2024.

Chinese Ambassador Chen Song, in his welcome address, cited the best relations enjoyed by Nepal and China.

Ambassador Song said that the cultural show was the second in a series of programs to mark the Spring Festival, one of the biggest traditional festivals in China.

The Ambassador wished that the Dragon New Year would bring peace, prosperity, and happiness.
