PM Dahal wants to reshuffle the cabinet, Deuba wants to wait

By Our Reporter

Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal has been trying to reshuffle his Cabinet by removing the ministers who failed to perform. But he has been postponing his plan only because Nepali Congress president Sher Bahadur Deuba wants to delay the reshuffle because of a growing factional tussle within his party and the upcoming Mahasamiti meeting.

Now that the PM is reportedly planning to remove the Janamat Party from the government to woo continued support from Janata Samajwadi Party Nepal, he wants to reshuffle the cabinet immediately. But he is helpless because of the unwillingness of Deuba to reshuffle the Cabinet. Also, Deuba wants the removal of Narayankaji Shrestha from the Cabinet, which is not an easy job for Dahal, because he does not want to annoy his own party vice chairman to please Deuba and CPN-UML chairman KP Oli, because both Deuba and Oli have been against Shrestha since he was appointed deputy prime minister and home minister.

Dahal wants to say goodbye to some ministers from his party who were dragged into controversy or were unable to perform as was desired. Likewise, the CPN (Unified Socialist) party also wants to change its ministers to give a chance to a new face. Similar is the situation for Upendra Yadav, who leads the Janata Samajwadi Party-Nepal. But when Deuba does not want to change the Cabinet, Dahal is unable to move ahead with his plan alone.
