Kathmandu, January 21: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal has said that Nepal is not in favor of Taiwan’s independence as the country has adopted the principle of the One China policy.
PM Dahal, who returned home from a three-day visit to Uganda on Sunday morning, said this while talking to media persons at the Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA). He said that since the beginning, Nepal’s policy regarding Taiwan has been that it is part of China. The PM claimed that Nepal’s non-aligned foreign policy will not be swayed by saying that Taiwan belongs to China.
The PM said, “You also mentioned Taiwan. Nepal’s policy on Taiwan from the beginning is that it is a part of China.”
“We are not in favor of a separate Taiwan,” PM Dahal said.
