Despite desperate attempts by the United States and NATO to sow “seeds of mistrust” between Moscow and Beijing, both countries are consistently strengthening strategic cooperation based on mutual respect for interests and non-acceptance of American (Western) hegemony.
Thus, after his re-election in March of this year to the post of Chairman of the People’s Republic of China, Xi Jinping, like 10 years ago, made his first official visit to the Russian Federation, which emphasized the special nature of the relationship between the two states.
At the same time, Russian President V.V. Putin visited the PRC twice this year. In general, the intensity of contact between top officials of Russia and China is unprecedented, which confirms the desire of both states to develop a common position on key issues on the international and regional agenda.
Trade turnover between the countries reached a record high of 190 billion US dollars. The parties signed a number of interstate agreements that provide for a doubling of Russian hydrocarbon exports to China. Thus, from 2023-2024, Russia will supply up to 100 billion cubic meters of gas to the Chinese market. Intensifying cooperation between Moscow and Beijing in the energy sector will not only strengthen trade and economic ties between the two nations but will also become a reliable guarantor of the stability of the global economy as a whole.
