Kathmandu, 8 January: A draft for the tripartite agreement has been prepared to export 40 megawatts of electricity from Nepal to Bangladesh using India’s transmission system. The 11th meeting of the Nepal-India Energy Secretary Level Committee (JSC) discussed the matter of an agreement.
The energy secretaries of Nepal and India have held a theoretical discussion on the principle of making a tripartite agreement among the Nepal Electricity Authority, NTPC Electricity Trading Corporation of India, and Power Development Board of Bangladesh, in accordance with India’s import and export guidelines to export electricity to Bangladesh via India.
Navinraj Singh, joint secretary of the Ministry of Energy, Water Resources, and Irrigation, discussed the existing electricity transmission lines between Nepal and India, under construction and proposed international transmission lines, various hydropower projects of Indian investment and related transmission line projects, international electricity import-export, etc..
