Kathmandu, 7 January: The ruling alliance has reached closed to seat-sharing deal for the National Assembly elections.
Out of the 19 seats, the partners in the ruling alliance have decided to allot 10 seats for the Nepali Congress, six seats for the Maoist Center, two seats for the Unified Socialist Party and one seat for the Janata Samajwadi Party.
However, the Unified Socialist Party has expressed dissatisfaction and asked to finalize the deal only after today’s (7 January) meeting.
The National Assembly elections are going to be held on 25 January.
After the election for 19 seats, the President can appoint one seat at the government’s recommendation.
Moreover, the ruling alliance has started to claim the post of chairman of the National Assembly. Sher Bahadur Deuba is lobbying to elect Krishna Shitaula to the post of NA chairman. Sitaula had defeated the Parliament election, and the recent NC Central Committee meeting decided to grant opportunities to those who had not had any chance in the past.
