Kathmandu, 2 January: Nepal and Bangladesh are preparing to sign the Preferential Trade Agreement (PTA) between the two countries. According to the information officer of the customs department, Punya Vikram Khadka said that discussions are being held between the private sector traders of both countries and the government. He said, there have been several meetings for PTA between Nepal and Bangladesh. Now, after the meeting, many issues are not left to be discussed, so an agreement may be reached soon.
As the list of items to be imported from Bangladesh to Nepal is long and the items to be exported to Bangladesh from Nepal is less, the subject is under discussion.
Both countries are holding discussions on connectivity and trade.
It seems that agricultural and food products produced in Nepal can be exported to Bangladesh. Navin Thapa, senior vice president of the Bangladesh Nepal Chamber of Commerce, said that since the demand for powdered milk produced in Nepal is high in Bangladesh, Bangladeshi traders have agreed with Nepali traders to import milk powder from Nepal.
