Kathmandu, 31 December: Today is the government holiday on the occasion of the Tamu Lhosar, the New Year of the Gurung community in the country.
There is a belief among the Gurung community that, from 15 Pous, the sun will change its position, and nighttime will start reducing while simultaneously increasing daytime.
The Gurung community is organizing a gathering at Tundikhel in Kathmandu and observing the festival with fanfare.
The culture, tradition, customs, ornaments, and cuisine of the Gurung community are being displayed at Tundikhel today.
