King Birendra’s statue restored in Pokhara after 17 years

Kathmandu, 25 December: The statue of King Birendra at the Birendra Chowk in Pokhara, which was demolished during the 2006 April uprising, has been restored at the same place after 17 years.

The statue was restored at around 2 am today (Monday). A committee was formed by the locals to restore the statue. It cost 2.5 million rupees for the reconstruction of the 8-foot-tall statue.

A committee was formed under the chair of Major Ganesh Bahadur Poudel to restore the statue.
