Kathmandu, 21 December: Sri Lankan Foreign Minister Mohammad Ali Sabri arrived in Kathmandu on Wednesday. According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Minister Sabri has come to Kathmandu to participate in the meeting of the Nepal-Sri Lanka Joint Commission on Thursday and Friday.
He is visiting Nepal for three days at the invitation of Foreign Minister NP Saud, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has informed through a press release.
In the meeting, bilateral cooperation between the two countries, including investment, trade, and tourism will be discussed.
In a statement issued by Sri Lanka’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, it is mentioned that the joint commission will focus on various areas of bilateral cooperation between Nepal and Sri Lanka, including trade and investment, tourism, education, defense, culture, connectivity, and public relations. Likewise, after the meeting of the joint commission, a memorandum of understanding will be signed to support in the fields of science, technology, and innovation.
According to the Ministry, the two foreign ministers will also hold separate meetings. Minister Sabri will also pay a courtesy call on President Ramachandra Paudel, and Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal.
During the visit, Sabri will also meet with the Sri Lankan diaspora community in Nepal.
Sri Lankan Ambassador to Nepal, Air Chief Marshal Sudarshan Karagoda Pathirana, and senior officials of the Sri Lankan Embassy in Kathmandu will participate in the meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs.
