The coalition parties are ready to give the Speaker of the Koshi State Assembly to the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP). Even before Kedar Karki was appointed as the Chief Minister, the coalition parties were ready to give the Speaker to the RPP. However, since the decision made by the coalition party regarding the Chief Minister was not implemented, the agreement has not been implemented yet.
The work of government expansion is also blocked as the process of selecting the speaker and the election of the chairpersons of the parliamentary committees has not been completed. In order to move the process forward, the coalition parties say that there has been a delay due to CPN-UML’s Mid-Hill area Sankalpa Yatra.
CPN-UML Koshi Province Parliamentary Party Deputy Leader Ram Rana Magar said that after the party’s campaign is over, there will be a discussion on the selection of the Speaker and the selection of the Chairman of the Parliamentary Committees. The discussion will now be held only after 20 December.
“Now we are focusing on the campaign. Even the Chief Minister or other parties have not spoken to us on this issue,” said Magar.
Sources claim that the RPP has also started discussions with the ruling coalition parties about giving the Speaker’s post to the RPP. It is said that the RPP also willing to get the speaker and the chairman of a committee. The RPP is planning to elect Ambar Bahadur Bista to the post of speaker of the assembly. However, RPP did not want to formally say anything about the discussion regarding the election of the Speaker and the Parliamentary Committee.
