Kathmandu, 14 December: Rastriya Prajatantra Party chairman Rajendra Lingden said that republicanism has already become very weak and the police and army alone cannot save it.
Addressing a public assembly in Mahendranagar of the Kanchanpur district, Lingden said that republicanism has already become very weak.
Lingden said that republicanism has failed to address the burning problems in the country.
RPP was preparing to restore the statue of King Mahendra in Dhangadhi. RPP leaders Lingden, Rabindra Mishra, Dr Dhawal Shumsher Rana had reached Mahendranagar in Dhangadi to restore the statue, however, the district administration office declared it a prohibited area.
In reaction, Lingden said, “We had not come here to break anyone’s statue but to restore the statue of the late King Mahendra. The announcement of the prohibition area has given the clear message that republicanism has become very weak.”
“I want to say to the PM and the home minister that this already distorted system cannot be saved from the police and army alone,” Lingden challenged.
We cannot wait four years to replace this system; we want to scrap this system within a year, Lingden challenged, saying that the delayed efforts would further deceive the nation.
