Real price of the Indian currency

BABBLES

By Babbler

Nepal is a consumer country and a major importer of Indian goods. The country needs the Indian currency to import goods. The government exchange rate is fixed at 1 unit of the Indian currency, which equals 160 units of the Nepali currency. However, due to the overflow of the Indian rupees in the market, the informal market exchange rate is just 155 units of the Nepali currency against one unit of the Indian currency. It makes clear that the informal trade through the open border has flourished and also due to the higher bank interest rates in Nepal, Indians have deposited their cash in the Nepali banks.

This could be an example of a loss to India by keeping an open border between the two nations.

Contradiction

If we listen to Foreign Minister Prakashsharan Mahat, he claims that the country’s economy is taking a proper course and there is no threat of its collapse.

In the meantime, Finance Ministry spokesman Dhaniram Sharma claims that the present revenue amount is unable to meet the current expenditure of the government. The government has to raise domestic or foreign debts to meet the current account, he said.

The question is how long the government will take the burden of taking debts to meet the non-productive sector expenditure, which has increased due to the introduction of the present federal structure!

What if we fall into the debt trap?

Expensive federalism

If scrapped federalism, the nation can save one trillion 70 billion rupees per year. From such a fund, the nation can build three more projects like the present MCC grant project.

Mission 84

As the images of the political leaders and their parties are on the decline, the parties have already started the Mission 84 campaign with the plan of making their parties strong. It is just 2080 and there left four years to face the next general elections. However, the leaders have started to face a serious threat of their demise, thus, they are making efforts to deceive the voters once again!

QUOTES OF THE WEEK

Under the leadership of Mahesh Acharya and Ramsharan Mahat, according to the policies of the World Bank and the IMF, in the name of privatization, liberalization, and open markets, the existing industries of the country were sold away at a very low price; still, they don’t have any regret!

Ratan Bhandari

The farmlands are barren, the villages are empty, the shutters of the city are closed, the restaurants are closed, and the people leaving the country. Perhaps, this should also be taken as a sign that republicanism has succeeded.

Apil Gurung

Exporting more than 15 billion worth of electricity in the rainy season is better if importing less than that in the dry season.

Otherwise, NEA will have to suffer losses like the country suffers losses in foreign trade.

Ratna Sansar Shrestha

How can we suspect the family’s belief in republicanism, which is committed to institutionalizing corruption? They brought it, and they ate…!
