
Kathmandu, 8 December: Chandra Ghale, a passenger arriving at the Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu from Dubai has been arrested along with 14 kg gold on Thursday night from the Airport.
Sobhakant Paudel, director general of the Department of Customs, informed that he was arrested following information about the arrival of gold on a flight from Dubai.
Further investigation is being conducted regarding his background and the real owner of the gold, said the Airport Customs.
Of late, the TIA has become a hub for gold smuggling. The smuggled gold is being exported to different parts of India by taking benefit of the Nepal-India open border.
