Impact of climate change has seriously affected Nepal: PM Dahal

Kathmandu, 3 December: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal has said that the impact of climate change has seriously hit Nepalis. In his address at the COP-28 in Dubai, on Saturday, PM Dahal said that Nepal has suffered a lot despite its minimal contribution to climate change.

“The impact of climate change has greatly affected Nepalis. Although Nepal’s contribution to this is negligible, it is suffering from floods, landslides, and melting of snow,” he said.

The PM said that he participated in COP-28 as Nepal is facing problems due to the impact of climate change. He stressed that the implementation of the Paris Agreement should not be delayed.

“It’s too late to implement the Paris Agreement’s commitment to limiting earth’s temperature to 1.5 degrees Celsius. This will also have a big impact on the mountains and there is a crisis,” he said.

Dahal claimed that Nepal should benefit from the Climate Damage Fund to be established through the conference. He called for making the fund transparent and drew the attention of the international community towards the justice and rights that Nepal enjoys.
