
Kathmandu, 25 November: Former King Gyanendra unveiled a newly constructed statue of Great King Prithivi Narayan Shah, founder of modern Nepal, amidst a special function this afternoon at Birtamod in Jhapa.
The statue has been erected at the premises of the Eastern Empire College of Hotel Management in Birtamod Municipality-1
After spending around half an hour there, King Gyanendra returned to a hotel in Mechinagar, where he has stayed since he reached Jhapa on Friday.
Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) demonstrated its strength at Birtamod while welcoming the King.
RPP’s chairman Rajendra Lingden welcomed the King and bid farewell as well.
Speaking to the press after the program, Lingden remarked that the foundation of republicanism has already been jolted and is on the verge of collapse.
