Kathmandu, 21 November: To strengthen Nepal-China relations and promote Nepal’s tourism, Chinese athletes are coming to Nepal on a chartered flight to participate in a friendly race competition to be organized in Pokhara. A running competition is being held in Pokhara on 25 November, jointly organized by the Chinese Embassy, Pokhara Metropolitan City, China’s Yunnan Mountaineering and Outdoor Sports Association, and Hotel Association Pokhara.
A 140-member team, including Chinese athletes, officials, and other guests, will land at the Pokhara International Airport on 23 November to participate in the event. They are reaching Pokhara through a chartered flight of the Himalaya Airlines in cooperation with the Chinese government.
Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Nepal Tourism Board, Dhananjay Regmi, informed that ten teams from Nepal and ten teams from China will participate in the competition and there will be three people in each team. Earlier in 2019, an international mountain cross-country competition was organized in Pokhara, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the running competition could not be organized after that. The sports event is expected to help increase Chinese tourists in Nepal.
